My research focus has long been on Inclusive Design and the Social Aspects of Computing, developed in large part through the Cyprus Interaction Lab. With my move to the Department of Sustainable Development, this focus now extends naturally into sustainability, which I approach as a deeply human-centred, social, and participatory challenge.

For many years I have worked in the broad area of Human-Computer Interaction, with particular emphasis on mathematical models of age-related differences in browsing information systems, on e-learning and computer-assisted language learning, and on the analysis of online communities through social network analysis — including their role as catalysts in addressing regional conflict. I now bring these methods to bear on questions of sustainability: how communities form around sustainability goals, how knowledge networks in ESD develop, and how inclusive, participatory design can make sustainability transitions genuinely equitable.
