Welcome to my homepage. I am the Rector of Cyprus University of Technology and a Professor at the Department of Sustainable Development of the Cyprus University of Technology. I recently moved to this newly established department, bringing with me more than two decades of research in Human-Computer Interaction, inclusive design, and the social aspects of computing. In the past I served also as Dean of School of Fine and Applied Arts and Head of department of the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts. Before returning to Cyprus i was a Reader at the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design , School of Informatics of City University London. Before City University, I was a researcher at the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University from where I also got my Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction (HCI).
My work sits at the intersection of people, technology, and society and it is precisely this human-centred lens that I now bring to the field of sustainable development. Sustainability is not only an environmental or technical challenge; it is fundamentally a social and participatory one. The inclusive design methodologies, the focus on equity and accessibility, and the social-network and community-based approaches that have defined my research are core tools for designing sustainable systems, services, and societies that leave no one behind. My current interests connect HCI and inclusive design with sustainability transitions, education for sustainable development (ESD), digital sustainability, and the design of technology that serves long-term human and environmental wellbeing.
